Every home is unique, so we make sure your replacement window is crafted to meet the exact measurements of your space. So rest assured, the team is prepared for the most unique challenges and will keep these considerations in mind as they’re installing your window:

  • Changes from house settling
  • Unforeseen structural damage
  • Variations in wall materials and thickness
  • Different types of casings or sill constructions

While most of these issues are unlikely to occur, being prepared for any situation allows us to operate at maximum efficiency – and to ensure we’re respecting your time when entering your home. Ultimately, our primary goal is to have everything ready so the installation process doesn’t interfere with your everyday life.

The Installation Process

Now it’s time for the real work to begin! Here’s a look at the main steps we take to ensure everything goes smoothly from beginning to end:

Prepare the area. We place drop cloths to catch debris and dust, then carefully remove the old window and repair any damaged window frame components as needed.

Clean and prep the opening. Once the open window area is cleaned thoroughly, our installers put in the new window.

Insulate and seal the frame. Installers tightly seal the area around the frame and replace the trim around the window.

Verify our work. Once the window is installed, we perform a final inspection to make sure everything is in excellent working order.

Clean up. Not only do we dispose of the old windows for you, but we completely clean the area so you can get right into enjoying your new windows. In fact, we often hear from homeowners that the house looks cleaner after an install than it did before the crew got there!

And when all the heavy lifting is done, we don’t just leave you hanging! Our installers will walk you through a detailed product demonstration, provide tips and tricks for future maintenance, and answer any additional questions you may have.

The Different Installation Methods

If you were curious about the types of installations we conduct in your home, here’s a brief overview to keep you in the loop. We offer two methods: insert window and full-frame installation. The differences between these procedures all depend on how much of your old window frame is being removed from the opening.

“Insert Window” Method

Some homes have a sill and frame that are still in excellent condition. For those looking to preserve the intricate trim pattern of the existing frame., it’s generally best to use an “Insert Window” method.

In this method, frames are prepared by removing sashes and old components before the replacement windows are put in place. Older windows may have frames made with thick wood, which reduces the glass area of your window. Luckily, our exclusive Fibrex® frames provide the same amount of structural support without too much bulkiness, allowing you to maximize the glass area of your window.

“Full Frame Window” Method

The full frame window method involves replacing the entire window, including the frame. This method is necessary if you want to change your current window style, if your current frame is unrepairable, or if local fire codes require updated egress points. It’s also a permanent solution for older windows that are showing signs of leakage.

In a full frame installation, the whole window is removed leaving behind only the rough opening. Your installer may inspect the frame to determine whether it can be repaired. If not, then a new window with frames, sashes, and all components are put in place.

Can I just skip the installation process?

You could buy windows from a big retail chain and hire a subcontractor for installation, but there are many potential risks that you may face with improper installation. These may include:

  1. Cracked joints
  2. Moisture damage
  3. Exposure to bugs
  4. Exposure to the elements
  5. Loss of heated or cooled air

While a full-service installation is a substantial investment, you’ll want the best for your home. Getting your windows installed the right way not only reduces heating and cooling costs, but also provides you with windows that will last a lifetime. Not to mention, you may have to pay even more down the line if the job wasn’t completed correctly.
